NBIS aspires to an inclusive world where brain health and well-being is accessible to all.
NBIS works with those affected by acquired brain injury to improve their quality of life.
We value providing people-centered services, fostering respect, growth, accountability, care, community and connection.
The Nanaimo Brain Injury Society (NBIS) is a registered non-profit society and charitable organization. We are a progressive society providing support, education, and connection for people living with brain injury since 1988 through education, advocacy, and community support.
Energetic and dedicated, our society members, volunteers, Board of Directors, and staff give the society a firm foundation on which we build our positive relationships with clients, family members, and our wider community.
NBIS supports local people who have been impacted by brain injury to improve their quality of life. We provide peer support programs, one-to-one support and education for persons with brain injuries and their friends and families. Over 1000 individuals per year connect and benefit from NBIS programming through our various services and events.
Visit the Nanaimo Brain Injury Society website to access resources and hear more about our programs and support services.
"Truth be told, I signed up to be a peer volunteer to help people, but I think I get just as much, if not more from the experience."
- NBIS Peer Volunteer
"If it weren't for the support that I've received from NBIS all these years, I might have ended up on the street."
